Today: woke up in Galway, drank a cappuccino the size of my head, and then drank another cappuccino the size of my head. What a darling little city 😍

Hi friends! Brett and I are off to Ireland for a much needed little vacay! We’ll be celebrating our second wedding anniversary, while there. Crazy how the time flies! I’ll be answering non-urgent emails and messages when we arrive home. We’ll have limited access to wifi while there. I appreciate your patience while we’re away! I’ll be posting some of our adventures on my stories throughout the next week ❤️

Oof, hi everyone! 👋 Emerging from my editing cave to let y’all know I’m still alive. I’ve officially entered my busy season and the balance struggle is real. Anyone else get working and then suddenly realize it’s dark, you haven’t left your house, you haven’t washed your face, and/or ate lunch yet? My goal this season is to work on that! Anyone have any tips on creating a better work/life balance? Anyways, I am so excited to fill you all in on what I’ve been working on lately! Hope you’re all doing well ❤️

One of my favourite pictures, ever ❤️ Being a wedding photographer is a really special job. We get to share and experience some of the most intimate, vulnerable moments with our clients that go unseen by most. I always feel so much gratitude for the trust my clients have in me. This trust allows me to be there for moments like this! Kalie and her dad reminded me so much of my dad and I (swipe right to see us, photo by @jennifermoher ), on my wedding day ❤️ By far, the best, most special part of my job!

So excited to be sharing more family work on this feed. For such a long time I feared family sessions.. It always felt so unnatural and contrived to make kids sit still and smile. I started to realize that my favourite photos from past sessions were actually the photos being taken when we’d take running breaks from posing. Last year I began approaching these sessions in a different way. I wanted the kids to run, laugh, and play! I began seeing such a beautiful shift in the photographs I was producing. Real connection, real laughs, and real personalities began to shine through! As hard as it was, I had to come to terms with the fact that I am not the photographer for everyone. Sitting people in front of a backdrop, and meticulously positioning them is just not where I thrive. There are so many talented people that do this (and do such a freaking amazing job), but it’s just not me. I’m finally realizing that that’s okay! Sometimes we put so much pressure on ourselves to excel in every single area of our craft, that we begin to lose our passion for the areas that we love most! I’ve come to love family sessions, now. It took some time, but I’ve settled into a perfect niche of playing tag, squishing my toes in paint, watching the clouds pass by, and just letting the kids be kids ❤️

Anyone else still only post square photo on Instagram!? I just realized I’ve never posted any horizontal or vertical photos. Guess that makes me a creature of habit!? 🤷‍♀️

Whitney and Chris get married this weekend and I can’t. freaking. wait. These two are going to be the most stunning bride and groom 😍
