WELCOME

Hey there! I am so excited you are here! My name is Taylor Lorenz and I run Taylor Olivia Photography. I started my career in photography by helping out a local wedding photographer 5 years ago. This sparked such a passion in me that I decided to apply to NAIT’s Photographic Technology Program. I was accepted and I learned a ton while in school. I graduated in 2015 and have been photographing life events and weddings since.

My goal as a photographer is to photograph events like they are stories. I love getting to know my clients so I can portray them in a genuine manner. I love creating moments, emotions, and connections and using those to create images that make my clients feel something. My hope is that my clients will be able to look back at their photos with their grandchildren and feel the same way they felt during their session.

I can’t wait to photograph your grad session! Please read through this guide for all the information you’ll need! If you have any additional questions, don’t hesitate to send me an email at: hello@tayloroliviaphotography.com

WHAT TO EXPECT

BEFORE

After receiving an inquiry for a grad session, I like to take a little bit of time to get to know the grad I’ll be photographing. This can be done either in person or through email. This small bit of communication allows me to better understand what the graduate is looking for in their photos. It also gives me a chance to understand their personality! This is really important to me because it will ultimately effect to way I pose and prompt them. For example, I may pose someone who is more shy differently than someone who is very outgoing! I’ve always felt strongly that accurately portraying people is one of the most important parts of portrait photography.

For the girls, your grad session is a really great opportunity to have your hair and makeup trial (if you are having your hair and makeup done). This allows you to make sure you like your look for grad day, and it also will put the icing on the cake for your photos!

I do require half of the session total as a deposit to secure your date and time. If by chance the weather is not good on the day we initially scheduled, I’ll have lots of flexibility to book you in on an alternate day.

Lastly, it’s good to start to think about the type of location style you’re wanting. I have quite a few great spots that I can offer as suggestions, but I’m always eager and open to new places for sessions! It’s important to make sure the location of your session makes sense and suits the grad. Would downtown, somewhere rural, something more stylized, etc. be best? The sky is the limit and sometimes the most unconventional places end up being the most beautiful!

DURING

My goal is for these sessions to be really relaxed and fun. I like to have an idea of where we’ll be initially meeting and the locations we’ll be going to throughout the session, but I also like there to be creative freedom. Having a really tight schedule can sometimes create tension. Every once and a while we might decide part way through the session we’re wanting to go to a different location than the initial plan, and that’s so okay with me!

If you are wanting family photos, we will typically start with these. We’ll take family photos for about half and hour, and then I like to head off with the grads on our own. Typically I will drive us around to a few places and then I will drop them off when we are finished. If there is any sort of discomfort with me driving the grad, I’m completely fine with parents escorting them. I do ask, if the parent is driving the grad to and from locations, that they stay in the vehicle while we are photographing. A lot of teens can feel awkward if someone is watching/adjusting them and it can tend to show in the photos. My priority is to help ease any nervousness and create a comfortable environment for my clients.

AFTER

It typically takes me about 3 weeks to edit and deliver my graduation sessions. Within about 1 week of our session, I will send a sneak peek of a few photos to show you what we’ve created! When I am finished editing the session, will send you a link via email to your online gallery. With instructions included, you will download your photos onto your computer. This same gallery can also be used to download photos onto cell phones and tablets. If you are interested in ordering any announcement cards, canvases, albums, or prints, please let me know so I can send you my price list! You also do have printing rights if you’re looking at printing on your own.
